Beaches

The Best Beaches (according to Frommers)

Doctor's Cave Beach (Montego Bay): This 8km (5-mile) stretch of white sand made "Mo Bay" a tourist destination. Waters are placid and crystal clear, and there are changing rooms and a beach bar. This one is a family favorite.

Cornwall Beach (Montego Bay): Although it's often crowded, this beach is covered with soft, white, sugary sand. The water is clean and warm, and it's a good spot to take the family. But "higglers"-vendors-will aggressively hawk anything from jewelry to drugs.

Seven Mile Beach (Negril): This beach stretches 11km (7 miles) along the west coast. These golden sands are fine for families, though there are several (sectioned-off) nudist patches where guests bare all.

Treasure Beach (South Coast): Tired of fighting the crowds? Head for this beach on the dry, sunny South Coast. The undertow can be dangerous, so swimming is tricky. But crashing waves make it one of the most dramatic beachscapes in Jamaica.

Boston Bay Beach (Port Antonio): It's known not only for its white sands and clear waters, but also for the great jerk-pork stands. This beach has the biggest waves in Jamaica, and you can rent surfboards and even get a lesson.

Aquasol Theme Park

The Aquasol Theme Park is a unique attraction in Montego Bay, where both adults and kids will find hours of fun.

Aquasol Themepark

You may sun-tan on the beautiful white sands of Walter Fletcher Beach, swim in the turquoise bay, zip around Montego Bay’s only go-cart track, play a game of tennis, browse the many boutiques, or grab a meal or drink at one of the restaurants and bars on the property. And these are only a few of the many possibilities!

Located at the top of the popular “Hip Strip,” Aquasol’s brightly painted buildings, speeding go-carts and sparkling beach stand out below the busy road. The park extends all along the wide, gently curving bay. Beyond the entrance, there’s a perfect picnic spot—a grassy area and benches beneath coconut trees where you can enjoy a delightful outdoor meal.

In the centre of the park are a few small buildings, decorated by dazzling underwater murals, which house the changing rooms, a beauty salon, gift shops, and restrooms. There’s also the Voyage Sports Bar and Grill, a cool retreat from the sun where tasty Jamaican dishes, salads, sandwiches, burgers, fries and many other delicious meals are served. Inside the restaurant area, you can shop at clothing boutiques for swimsuits, t-shirts and sundresses.

Aquasol Theme Park also boasts Mobay’s only go-cart track -- the Mobay 500 racing course. There, children whiz around in colourful carts. Should all that driving work up an appetite, there’s a kid’s snack bar and grill by the track. A few feet away from the course, under the shade of several large trees, are two tennis courts. There, you may catch a game or a lesson with Aquasol’s resident pro.

Imagine, all this is just scratching the surface. By far Aquasol’s greatest attraction is its beach. Walter Fletcher Beach is a wide, golden stretch that has a few coconut and almond trees lining its backbone. In the shady areas are picnic benches and play areas for the kids with table tennis tables and more. You may also choose from a wide range of water sport activities or even join in an energetic game of volleyball. Certified lifeguards watch over the beach, helping to make it safe and enjoyable for all Aquasol guests.

Both adults and children will enjoy playing all day at Aquasol Theme Park. Whether you relax on the beach or indulge in the park’s many activities, be sure to check out this one-of-a-kind attraction in Montego Bay.

Au Natural Beaches

If tan lines are a pet peeve or nudity a fetish, Jamaica is the place to bare it all with more nude beaches than any other Caribbean island. Our au-naturel beaches range from sedate and relaxing to wild and crazy, so pick a sandy patch that’s right for you, pack a towel and little else…the perfect all-body tan waits for you on this tropic isle.

Nude tanning is permitted on private beaches islandwide. As few of our beaches are public, you have a lot of choices as to where to wear nothing at all. Find a secluded spot at Oracabessa’s James Bond Beach or at Bloody Bay, Negril, and slip out of your suit, letting the sun kiss your skin. Take a boat ride to an island shared only by fellow nudists, Negril’s Booby Cay. Ask for a little more privacy at Reggae Vibes, Ocho Rios, and the managers will corner off a section of the beach, just for you. In Trelawny, Time & Place’s deserted white-sand offers quiet seclusion that’s perfect for wearing nothing at all.

Many of our resorts too have “clothing optional” areas, where you can bare as much as you dare, as well as secret spaces designated specifically for those that like to beach in the buff. On these hotel nude beaches, swimsuits are forbidden, so to partake in their sun, birthday suits are a must! Of our countless resorts, Superclubs is perhaps the most free-spirited, with all their hotels, including Hedonism, Couples and Grand Lido, offering nude facilities.

At the top of any world’s best nude beaches list are Superclubs’ legendary dens of iniquity and self-indulgence, Hedonism II and III. Located in Negril and Runaway Bay, respectively, Hedonism urges you to indulge your every desire and be “wicked for a week”. With this in mind, it should come as no surprise that at both hotels clothing is always optional. Choose from the “prude” or the “nude” beach, each with its own pool, hot tub, bar and grill, volleyball courts and much more.

For the naturalist looking for a more elegant setting, Superclubs’ Grand Lido resorts are key choices. Stay at one of two locations, Grand Lido Negril or Grand Lido Braco, both have clothing optional locales. Playful pairs may also enjoy tanning sans clothing on Tower Isle, a small cay about 200 yards off shore from Couples, Ocho Rios. The hotel’s boat ships guests to this private nude beach, with a pool, cabana bar and romantic spots for snuggling.

Across Jamaica, but especially in Negril, you’ll also find a few smaller hotels that understand your yearning to lose restrictive pieces of clothing. Scattered along Negril’s seven-mile beach and tucked away on its rugged cliffs, these resorts make a special effort to provide private places for you to relax in the nude.

To remember what it’s like to be a bare bottom kid playing on the shore, sun on your back, warm water tickling your toes and laughter jiggling your tummy, visit Jamaica, Shed propriety and relinquish your suit. Wash away remaining inhibitions in our soothing waters and feel the warmth of our sun on your naked body. This is Jamaica, au naturel...
